NEUMATICA
Three years ago, brother and sister Roberto and Debora Piwnica were in search of a way to help the earth while creating unique and useful fashion accessories. They discovered that a less than glamorous inner-tube tire could be made into a very beautiful piece of art. This recyclable material was very versatile and created a fabulous end result. In these times of global rehabilitation it is crucial that people find ways to recycle and reuse in order to save the earth. Rubber is not a bio-degradable substance and if disposed it remains in the earth for upwards of 500 years. By reusing an item such as an inner-tube tire to create a fashion accessory Roberto and Debora are helping the environment. They have created a beautiful item out of something that would have just been thrown away. They are transforming it and putting it back out onto the streets. Working with inner-tube is not an easy task. The steps to create in this medium can be grueling and tedious. First one must search out and collect the material needed, pass it through a double cleaning process so that only the best product is made, hand-cut the patterns piece by piece and seal it with a special UV protection agent. Yet, the process does not end there. Finishing includes mounting, sewing, adding metal pieces, handles and giving the piece an overall polish. Roberto and Debora’s earth friendly products are located in many fashion stores throughout the world, including Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Spain, Italy, France and the US. They have participated in the prestigious 2006 Buenos Aires Fashion Week Fair as well as the 2007 Pure Design Fair. Roberto and Debora create all types of fashion accessories from handbags, belts, knapsacks, luggage pieces to agendas, hats and even furniture! Currently, they have designs for laptop bags and IPOD carrying cases in the works. Their products are all about fashion with a cause. They are most appreciated by people who are open minded and are looking for couture products that are eco-friendly. |
